What is Aadhar : A Quick and Brief Description

Aadhar is unique identification no. issued by Unique Identification Authority of India or UIDAI to people for the establishment of unique identification of each person. It is a 12 digit unique number is unique for each person who apply or enroll for her/his Aadhar Card. It is meant for all individuals irrespective of age, gender, financial status etc. And as Aadhar Card is for unique identification, it is different for every individual of family. To decide the uniqueness of individual, details about residence and biometric info like Iris Scan, Finder Prints etc. are collected and stored in a database.

However, Aadhar card is not compulsory. Interested individuals can enroll for the Aadhar card and get one for herself/himself. A Person can only have one Aadhar No. and not many Aadhar No.. This unique identification number remains same and doesn't need to be renewed or changedf. Any one can get one's Aadhar No. for free.
